Blanket = at least 3 months (90 days) of stock. Landed below budget or global risk rising → front-load 3 months now, then rolling 3-month contracts.
IMPORT + SPOT
Price above budget or volatile — buy exact lead-time cover monthly, explore alternate origins (e.g. India DDGS).
LOCAL + BLANKET
Blanket = at least 3 months (90 days) of stock, bought heavy in BD production seasons: salt Apr-May, molasses Nov-Mar, Aman byproducts Nov-Jan.
LOCAL + SPOT
Steady local supply — monthly buys, more at harvest peaks. Local premix makers carry the import risk.
SHELF-LIFE CAP (expiry)
Order qty capped so stock after receipt never exceeds shelf life × monthly usage. ≤2 mo shelf (rice polish, DORB, wheat bran): buy monthly, zero stockpiling. ≤6 mo (SBM, DDGS, fish meal): FEFO rotation. No-usage-30d items: do not reorder.
